How are you supporting employee wellbeing this autumn?

While we’ve been enjoying a splash of sunshine this week, it’s clear Summer is over and many of us have now returned to work after some well-deserved time off.

But not everyone will feel recharged. Anyone who has been juggling work, childcare and/or personal responsibilities over the summer may be feeling more drained than refreshed.

And as we head into Autumn, this time of year can be challenging for some – making it especially important to take time to engage and listen to your employees.

Here are a few practical suggestions to support your employees’ wellbeing this Autumn:

Use World Mental Health Day to spark conversations

This year’s World Mental Health Day (10 October 2024) has the theme of prioritising mental health in the workplace.

Use this as an opportunity to promote mental health across your organisation – for example, by hosting coffee & chat sessions, organising stress management workshops or simply sharing resources that encourage employees to speak up about their challenges.

Set up regular check-ins for remote / hybrid workers

Remote and hybrid employees can feel disconnected from their team and less able to make their voices heard.

To help combat this, make regular check-ins a priority, for example by scheduling a weekly call, celebrating wins digitally and, where feasible, arranging periodic in-person meet-ups accessible to everyone in the team.

Create an anonymous feedback channel

Employees can feel safer sharing their honest thoughts if they can do so anonymously, free from fear of repercussions – and when they see their feedback is taken seriously.

Offering anonymous feedback options like confidential surveys or anonymous functions on an employee engagement platform such as Trickle can allow employees to raise their challenges safely – and feel like they’re being heard.
